Not just a history, but a background into why I feel that my services are useful to the home user and what benefits can be gained from my assistance.
For some time I have acted as free computer support to all my friends and family. Often I would get a call asking if I could 'take a look' at their computer and cast an eye over the system to repair a problem and it soon became clear that I had an aptitude for getting things working again very quickly and effectively.
Another friend of mine pointed this out to me and, as I have a desire to work for myself, I began to consider working the odd evening to fix and advise on other peoples PCs.
This site is my next step on the ladder and I am growing a customer base that like my friendly and supportive way of working with them coupled with the fact that I can impart knowledge to them without using difficult language.
I feel that it is essential that a PC owner gets to know some of the more complex terms and concepts, but there is a limit to what they will need to learn to be able to get the best from their system. This balance is what I try to find, so that the computer becomes a completely useful tool; the owner is not a slave to it nor should they ignore it as a 'waste' because it does not do exactly what they want.
If you would like to discuss a problem before committing to work, I am always happy to talk things through, but I strongly advise against trying to fix things yourself unless you are totally comfortable with what effects you will cause by making any changes.
I have found that people will ask me what they should do then they'll go away and try to fix the problem, fail to do so and then make matters worse and blame me for not giving good advice! I can only really provide a quality service if I am allowed to operate on systems and work with customers using the experience I have gained over several years. That is why a discussion on the phone is never sufficient. I offer a service that gives you comfort that you are going to not have any problems in the future because you will know what is going wrong.
I will also be happy to negotiate on cost where a longer time is required to do some work and will never turn down a fair offer.
Finally, I hope that you are reading this in the full knowledge that your PC is behaving exactly as you wished but, if not, call me and be rest assured that I will help put the PC right and give you the support that you need. If you have any questions, please call or email.
